Case Study

Bearing Intelligence

Bearing is a competitive intelligence platform for product and pricing teams. It tracks what rivals publish — prices, packaging, changelogs, filings — and delivers structured, sourced changes every morning.

Project Overview

Turning Vision Into a High-Impact Digital Presence

The audience was unusually broad for a single site. A pricing lead wants proof the data is current. A CTO wants to know what the tool connects to. Procurement wants to know where the data came from. Every page had to answer a different reader without fragmenting into five different products.

  • Brand direction — name, mark, palette, and a two-typeface system
  • A reusable design system: colour and size variables, type scale, and component patterns
  • Product UI mockups used as the site’s imagery instead of stock photography
  • Eleven marketing pages, each with original copy
  • An Elementor V4 built

The Challenge

Building a Market-Ready Brand From the Ground Up

The category has a credibility problem. Competitive intelligence tools tend to look like surveillance products — dark dashboards, radar sweeps, gradient-heavy hero sections — and the ones that don’t look generic instead. Neither reads as trustworthy to a buyer who has to defend a repricing decision to their board.

  • Trust had to be visible, not claimed. Saying “sourced and verifiable” convinces nobody. The interface itself had to show timestamps, diffs and audit trails.
  • One brand, five readers. Pricing, product, IT, procurement and finance all needed a page written for them, in one consistent voice.
  • The build had to survive handover. A beautiful static design that only we could edit would have failed. The output needed to be a real Elementor site the client’s team could maintain.

There was also a hard constraint we set early: no stock photography of people pointing at laptops. If the product’s value is structured evidence, the site should show structured evidence.

The Solution

Strategy-Led Design Meets Conversion-Focused Execution

We built the identity around the idea of an instrument rather than a dashboard. A narrow navy-to-petrol range carries the dark sections, with teal reduced to a six-pixel accent mark — never a button, never a gradient. Three data colours (up, down, new) were reserved strictly for numbers, so colour always means something.

Typography does the heavy lifting: Instrument Sans for anything readable, JetBrains Mono for labels, metrics, timestamps and source tags. That monospace layer is what makes the product read as a measuring tool instead of a marketing site.

Rather than illustrate the pipeline, we showed its output. Every page carries a real artifact:

  • The homepage opens with an animated convergence diagram — five source types flowing into one node, three typed outputs leaving it — beside a live signals table
  • The platform page shows an actual before-and-after price diff, the most persuasive object in the whole project
  • The security page leads with a data-flow panel proving there is no inbound path into a customer’s systems
  • The closing call to action offers real booking slots with one pre-selected, so the button names the commitment instead of saying “get started”

Copy was written per page, per reader. Coverage publishes the source table with cadences and an explicit out-of-scope list. Data ethics states the work we would decline. Pricing is charged per competitor tracked rather than per seat, with a section defining exactly what counts as one competitor — because per-page pricing is the usual trick in this category.

For handover we produced an Elementor PRO website where every element carries its own global styles across desktop, tablet and mobile breakpoints.

The Outcome

A Scalable Foundation for Growth

The project delivered a complete product identity rather than a set of comps:

  • Eleven pages designed and written, all sharing one header, one closing call to action and one footer
  • A documented design system — 31 colour variables, 14 size variables, two typefaces and a full type scale with per-breakpoint values
  • A working Elementor PRO V4 website that imports cleanly, with only two hand-coded blocks retained for the animated diagram and the product mockup
  • Zero stock photography in the product narrative — every visual is either real interface or real data
  • A fully fluid layout: a 1,440-pixel content container with responsive behaviour driven by fluid type and self-stacking grids, so nothing depends on fixed breakpoints

Most importantly, the design argues the product’s case without asserting it. The interface shows its sources, the pricing page shows its own limits, and the ethics page shows what the company turns down — which is a more convincing trust signal than any badge row.

We came to the OrionWP team with a rough idea and a screenshot, and they turned it into a complete, polished product identity. The speed was the first thing that impressed us. Pages were delivered faster than we could review them, yet nothing ever felt rushed or compromised. What really stood out, though, was how smoothly the entire project was handled. Every revision addressed exactly what we asked for, without unnecessary changes, and the quality stayed consistent from the first page all the way to the eleventh. The handover files were also clean, organized, and genuinely ready for our Elementor team to take over and continue working with. The entire experience was professional, efficient, and remarkably easy from start to finish. We’d absolutely work with the OrionWP team again without hesitation.
